Smart Drivers helps young people on the road to obtain their driving licence by involving their parents.  Both groups are able to use Smart Drivers as a modern, straightforward system that guides them, step by step, through the learning process towards becoming a responsible driver.

Smart Drivers consists of an online platform and matching app that gauges their driving behaviour. Smart Drivers helps youngsters along the road to obtaining their driving licence, also helping them to drive safely once they have passed their test. That way they become responsible drivers. Parents are also given support so that they can do a better job as instructors and advisers to their children. Both the Smart Drivers platform and app can be accessed totally free of charge once you have registered.

The platform helps the youngsters to prepare for their theory test and then once they have gained their provisional licence, it shows them the way to obtain their full licence, step by step. They can already start using the Smart Drivers app after their theory exam. The driver is given feedback about their driving after each outing in the car. Good drivers are rewarded with badges and can even win prizes.

Smart Drivers is unique in that it also supports the people sitting in the passenger seat with the youngsters, usually their parents. It enables them to refresh their own knowledge of the highway code, as well as giving them advice about the best way to guide their children.

Smart Drivers is a collaborative effort between Vias institute and its partners Baloise, Q8, Recytyre and Volvo Cars.
