Active transport grows sharply

Already evolving quite fast for the last 3 years, active transport modes have doubled in the last few months. This unprecedented change, driven by the COVID-19 crisis, could be a key trigger to improve the modal split of your company! Over 11% of people whom main transport mode used to be a car have declared their willingness to permanently change their transport habits.

Active transport modes like cycling or walking not only save money and improve health, but also positively impact the well-being, increase productivity, and reduce stress resulting from commuting (not to mention that there are no traffic jams on cycling paths). According to our respondents, significantly more people who cycle to work actually miss their commute as it allows them to get the right mindset before a day full of meetings, it provides them a physical exercise and ultimately serves a barrier between professional and personal life.

There are a lot a new means of transport and legislative tools available. By introducing few changes in your policy, you can encourage your employees to adapt their travel behavior in a safe and fun manner. Approximately 18% of Belgian companies have already introduced changes and offered new opportunities to their staff. Are you curious how to implement new means of transport in your company, or get specific trainings for your employees? Check out now what our Commuter Happiness Center can do for you!

Telework is well received by the employees

Telework means less stress, no commuting time, less fatigue, and a feeling of being trusted that positively impacts productivity. Moreover, this is an efficient measure to reduce traffic, pollution and increase well-being. 95% of respondents asked about their attitude towards teleworking were supportive to implement it on a larger scale, if applicable.

However, lack of a clear framework, tools and strategy leads to miscommunication and induce frustration. Lower ergonomics and faded boundaries of work-life balance can quickly lead to burn outs and a feeling of social exclusion. There are many solutions to prevent that from happening and to seize all of advantages of remote working- and our experts are ready to explain how you could efficiently implement teleworking in you company.

Flexible is feasible

Flexible working hours could help your employees to better find themselves in the pandemic-affected world. Shifting work schedules will contribute to distributing peak moments in the public transport and reduce traffic jams which in consequence will improve their perception of safety and reduce the stress related to commuting. 23% of Belgians intend to adapt their schedules to avoid crowds and this number is more than twice as high in big cities. Tailoring your mobility policy will help you be agile in case of unforeseen events and smoothly resume your activities. The mobility of tomorrow is just around the corner- is your company ready for it?
